All tapes are sold strictly as collector’s items with NO guarantee concerning their operating condition-- unless picked up in person. 8-tracks were never intended to travel through the mail; rough handling by USPS occasionally results in the tape un-spooling, something over which I have no control. I generally do not “splice test” them. So in rare cases, a tape might separate when it hits the splice and foil strip. Break out the screwdriver and the Scotch Tape!
