1944 Vintage Press Photo by UNITED STATES NAVY PHOTOGRAPHER VIA ACME.
Lifting his head from his stretcher, this Navy man smiles happily as a Red Cross Girl passes the cookies, candy and milk.  The fighting man is one of many Navy causalities and sick who are now flying back to America aboard Naval Air Transport Service Douglas Skymasters from distance fronts in World War 2.  Red Cross Workers greet the patients at intermediary stops and upon debarkation at U.S. Airfields.
