Up for sale is a wonderful Native American folk art oil painting by Richard Loretto a Jemez Pueblo Indian depicting a ceremonial dance. Three men are painted in the foreground dancing in full dress while the man on the right plays the drum with his head tilted back and mouth open. The two figures on the left are shown wearing eagle dress and have gold bells on their knees and hips. Seven figures are seen in the background atop their homes watching thee dancers all with their hands similarly tucked into their pockets. Painted by Richard Loretto and dated 1978 I was able to find only one other painting by the artist which remains in the permanent collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art which shows a single buffalo dancer. Measuring 11 x 14 inches the condition of the painting is perfect, free from any imperfections or damage and shows the artists information written verso. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this Richard Loretto Jemez Indian oil painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
