Antique Persian Solid Silver Vase - MUSEUM QUALITY LARGE Enameled Painted Panels.

A fine Persian silver vase with three enameled hand painted panels. Extensive repoussé work surrounds the vessel. There are birds, animals, and plant life abound. There is hand engraved Farsi writing on the top side of the body of the vase. It reads roughly “Presented to Behouz for their service as Captain on this day the 12th of February 1956”. So the recipient was a Captain in the military. I’m not sure if the piece was new then or if the engraving was put on a older piece. My guess is that the piece is older than the engraving. The three hand painted panels are on copper then affixed to the silver. They each have a bit of damage to the enamel. The main panel features a scholar with a book and pottery in the forefront and a landscape in the background. It appears to be signed by the artist in the grass. Another panel features birds and flowers. The final panel is a beautiful landscape with buildings. This is a relatively large piece. It is 8 1/2” tall and 4 1/2” wide. It is quite heavy at 18ozt of solid silver. I do not know what purity the silver is but my guess is .900 or 90% pure. Sterling silver is 92.5%, it’s probably not far off from that. With the exception of light damage to the enamel the vase is in good antique condition. A vase of very similar quality and design sold in Qatar in 20018 for $4,600. Please see screenshot in the listing photos for this example. This piece is fresh to market after residing in a coastal MA estate. Shipping is ASAP! Thanks

I’ve added a $3.25 “handling” charge to the shipping which will be used for the “signature required” option the post office offers.
