Vintage VIOLET PARKHURST "The 3 Clowns" Framed Oil Painting Canvas 12x30 Signed

RARE VIOLET PARKHURST - SIGNED & Framed Oil Painting on Canvas 12 x 30.

Here's your opportunity to own an extremely rare painting from an incredible artist! This clown trio was painted by the late artist Violet Kinney Parkhurst, who is known for her seascapes. Her gallery (Parkhurst Galleries Inc., founded in 1947 in San Pedro, CA) has continued her love for art up to it's September 2021 closure.

A few facts about the artist: According to her gallery’s website, Parkhurst “attended the School of Practical Arts in Boston, and Baylor College in Waco, Texas and the Museum in Rio de Janeiro. Violet finished her formal training in the arts at Los Angeles City College.” She also dated Clark Gable of Gone With the Wind and she studied in Mexico City with Diego Rivera’s wife (it is not specified which wife). The website includes photos of Parkhurst with various public figures, including George Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Additionally, Parkhurst’s pieces “are on permanent collection in dozens of museums around the world including the China National Museum of Fine Art and the Stockholm Museum. She has also been on exhibit in the Louvre and Prado Museums” and her art is collected by “people around the world including four US Presidents, two Presidents of China, King of Saudi Arabia, and a host of celebrities including her very first admirer Clark Gable.” Truly a unique artist!

The canvas itself is 12 x 30. The frame is approximately 20 x 38 x 2. The frame goes outward by 2 inches so only the back covering of the canvas is flush against the wall. The exposed wood of the canvas appears to have "MADE IN HOLLAND" printed on it, but it is rather faded.

I've included several photos of her signature on this painting- as far as the sets of eyes that have seen this painting in real life can see, this is an original painting and signature. The close-up macro lens photos I've taken with my iPhone supports that statement as well. I'm unsure about what year this was painted. I tried to retrieve the certificate of authenticity and additional information from her gallery, but it closed. Please contact me if you have any information about this painting. I have found nothing about it online and it is clear that clowns were not her typical subject!
