HUGO JUNKERS (1859-1935)SIGNED CARD, “Hugo Junkers”, on a card 4.5 x 3.5, by the German aircraft engineer and aircraft designer who pioneered the design of all metal airplanes and flying wings. His company Junkers Flugzeug-und Motorenwerke AG, was one of the mainstays of the German aircraft industry between WWI and WWII. In addition to aircraft, Junkers also built both diesel and petrol engines and held both thermodynamic and metallurgical patents. He was also one of the main sponsors of the Bauhaus movement (the German art school operational 1919-33). When the Nazi’s came to power in 1933 here fused to support German re-armament and was placed under house arrest and died at home in 1935. Under Nazi control his company produced some of the most successful German warplanes of WWII. The card is boldly signed, with a large signature, and is in fine condition, with minor age toning and the place/date “Dessau [where his factory was located], May 3, 1929” on lower left, in another hand.   #12766
