This lovely English style Canadian antique round (drinks) serving tray is pierced, etched and with a mesh design. It has a distinct 3 dimension raised grapes around the rim and is etched with a romantic scrolls design in the center. It is well marked with "Haddon Plate,  EP on copper, BM mounts" and with an impressed picture of the famous English Haddon Hall and the #1717. The Haddon Silverplate company was started in Port Colbourne, (later Niagara Falls) Ontario in 1880 by McGlaskan-Clarke Co Ltd. It was the first silverplate company in Canada and was famous for its top quality silverplate, much of which was sold by the T. Eaton Co, across Canada. This one is original and from the late 1800s (no country name in the stamp)
The condition is perfect -it has been lovingly cared for. It has  no dents, nor scrapes, no resilvering, nor repairs. It does have some slight 100+year wear to the silver on the underside but has no wear through to the copper.
It is 9" in diameter and about 3/4" in depth. Weight; 1.2 lbs (.493 KG)
A perfect size for use as a salver or to serve a couple of drinks.
