When the lower bearing (thrust pad) of the turntable motor of the KSS-190a gets excessively worn it causes the magnet assembly to rub on the motor coils. Initially this manifests itself as a ticking or rubbing noise and eventually leads to skipping during playback and damage of the motor coils.

This thrust pad cut from ultra-low friction solid PTFE (Teflon) makes for an easy repair and upgrade.

Fitting:
The PTFE thrust pad simply drops in on top of the original thrust pad. Use a small smear of grease to hold it in place.
On some players you may find that once you've fitted the PTFE thrust pad the magnet assembly of the motor now binds on the upper bearing. If this happens you will need to space the lower bearing assembly away from the upper bearing and the kit includes two shim washers for this purpose (see photos).
