This listing is for a test socket allowing reversible insertion of an SMD chip into a breadboard, perfboard or ZIF socket with 0.1” (2.54 mm) hole spacing for programming or prototyping. It’s analogous to a zero insertion force (ZIF) socket for DIP chips but for an SMD part. The pins on the bottom of the adapter are in a DIP arrangement.

Select the desired adapter from the drop-down menu. The available sockets accept chips of the body width indicated in the drop-down menu and expand to the DIP width indicated below:

SOP8 3.9 mm 150 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP8

SOP8 5.4 mm 200-209 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP8

SOP16 3.9 mm 150 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP16

SOP16 7.5 mm 300 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP16

SOP20 5.4 mm 209 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP20

SOP20 7.5 mm 300 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP20

SOP28 7.5 mm 300 mil chip body width to 300 mil DIP28

SOP44 13.3 mm 520 mil chip body width to 600 mil DIP44

Note that chips with pin numbers fewer than the available socket connectors can also be inserted (e.g. an SOP8 chip will fit into an SOP16 socket). The chip pin pitch for all of these sockets is 1.27 mm.

The breadboard and perfboard in some pictures is to demonstrate the pin spacing and potential application and is not included in the sale.

Delivery

Orders will be dispatched within one business day, using recycled packaging wherever viable.

By default, all orders are dispatched by Royal Mail Second Class/RM48. If your order is needed urgently, you are encouraged to select an upgraded postage option, such as First Class/RM24 or Royal Mail Special Delivery, during checkout.

Some areas of the UK have experienced a degraded level of service from the Royal Mail with deliveries as infrequently as once per week or worse. If you are currently affected by this, please contact me before ordering to discuss the possibility of using an alternative courier service.
