From 1935-40, the Canada Starch Crown Brand produced a set of black and white
photos of a hockey player’s image on the front with facsimile signature. Photos included in the set feature both individual players and complete teams.
The pictures were initially mounted onto a beige/cream-colored backing but today, many will be found
without that as collectors often removed them.
Photos still attached to the backing are generally worth a premium.
This series featured many stars of the era, complete with facsimile signatures and scarce over-sized team photos.
The 1934-35 Montreal Maroons season the 11th season of the NHL franchise.
The team finished second in the Canadian Division. In the playoffs, the Maroons defeated Chicago
Blackhawks, the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs to WIN the FRANCHISE's SECOND STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP.
They went against Toronto in the Final in a best-of-five series and swept them in three games, or 3–0.
Tommy Gorman became the first man in NHL history to coach back to back Stanley Cup Champions for 2 different teams.
