From 1935-40, the Canada Starch Crown Brand produced a set of black and white
photos of a hockey player’s image on the front with facsimile signature. Photos included in the set feature both individual players and complete teams.
The pictures were initially mounted onto a beige/cream-colored backing but today, many will be found
without that as collectors often removed them.
Photos still attached to the backing are generally worth a premium.
This series featured many stars of the era, complete with facsimile signatures and scarce over-sized team photos.
The 1937-38 Montreal Canadiens season was the team's 29th season of play.
The Canadiens placed third in the Canadian Division and qualified for the playoffs.
Montreal met and lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks in the quarter-finals.

8,683 fans attended, contributing $11,447 to a total pot of over $20,000 for HOWIE MORENZ's family.
This was the last season for Pit LEPINE, Aurel JOLIAT and Marty BURKE.
