Rare 1940s stamped brass finding featuring a bearded fisherman or sailor. High quality die cast stamping, made in France, with natural aged ginger copper patina, 32mm. Hollow back with rolled edges.  This is a rare and difficult stamping to find.

Early 20th century excellent French piece, manufacturing company was "V.M.S."

Many fun and creative possibilities for this rare find. Create a pendant or brooch. Mount or add a ribbon to create an award for a fishing competition. Embellish a wooden jewelry, gift or curio box for the fisherman or woman or old sea salt in your life.

As an alloy of copper and zinc, these older, higher quality raw unplated brass pieces have aged to beautiful patinas over time and with exposure, unlike brass pieces created more recently through today. Those pieces that had a higher percentage of copper content have naturally aged to this beautiful ginger copper color patina.

Seal to retain its current patina. Unsealed it will continue to age, and possibly darken with exposure.

You'll receive the piece shown in the photos with this listing.
