Description
Offered here is this amazing salvaged 1930's Davies & McDonald Tile Company 4.25" Decorative Tile. I am unsure of its exact age, however, Davies & McDonald Tile Company was only in production from 1928 through 1939. This tile is made of clay bisque, and has a painted design known as Moorish Decoration. The tile is a 4.25" tile and is .5" thick, however, this piece has a quarter round trim piece attached to it, and a portion of another tile on it, which makes it a total length of 7.5" not including the mortar still attached. It is an amazing salvaged piece from The Frederick Estate in Altadena California. This tile is in good condition, with no real breaks around it, however, it does have a lot of the morter still attached to the back, and there are a some small areas around the outer perimeter where the glaze is chipped off from the salvage process. The glaze on the front of the tile is a bit worn in a few places, and the colors are slightly faded, but, for a tile that is almost 100 years old, it is incredible. Each of these tiles were hand painted, and therefore the design has very slight variances. It is a gorgeous salvaged tile from Davies & McDonald Tile Company.
