Out-of-print, hard-to-find hardcover book with nearly 1000 pages from the Greiner Scientific Corporation, New York, NY. Copyright dated 1971 and showing Allied Scientific of Virginia, Inc.

Offered in this book is asbestos mittens, gloves, squares, tape, and cord.

Asbestos covered tongs/clamps

Labconco desiccator made with transite shelves

Fume hood base cabinet and corner fume hood support were made with a Colorlith working surface (top). Colorlith is an asbestos composition that is a proprietary product of Johns Manville.

Sheldon-Allied Laboratory Furniture (cabinets, sinks, cases, tables, etc.) were offered with 2 options for counter top material. One of them contained asbestos; Shellstone. It was an asbestos composition that was acid resistant.

Fume hoods came with Shellstone tops and/or were made of asbestos materials.

Glass Blowing kit came with an asbestos board.

Ful-Kontrol Heater were made with asbestos covered lead wires.

Kjeldahl Digestion Rack - used transite board

Acid and Caustic Disppensing Unit - made with a Colorlith cabinet top.

Precison-Thelco Ovens used asbestos millboard

Economy Ovens used asbestos insulation

Boekel Double Wall Oven used an asbestos gasket seal.

Despatch Sterilizers - made with asbestos air cell insulation.

Precision-Freas Gravity Convection Ovens - used asbestos gaskets.

Freas Controlled Temperature Water Bath - insulated with 1" layer of asbestos

Blue M Magni-Whirl Utility (Water) Bath - used 1" layer of asbestocel insulation

Precision Sero-Utility Baths - used 3/4" layer of asbestos air cell insulation

Asbestos Center Wire Gauze Squares

Respirator - Dust Type – provided safe protection against pneumoconiosis-producing dusts and mists including asbestos. Bureau of Mines approved. This respirator could have potentially prevented asbestos related illnesses for those working in labs and represents that Greiner Scientific knew their clients were potentially exposed to harmful mists and dusts.

There are likely more references but these were some of the ones I found looking briefly through the book.

Book Condition:

The book is in VERY GOOD condition!! The book has normal wear from use. There are no locations of writing, underlining or highlighting of the text that I could find from a cursory review. Binding is tight & square with no loose pages. The pages have some browning due to age. It's still a good used book with plenty of life left in it!!
