Dero Digitata is a very prolific aquatic annelid, perfect live food,

easy to culture, and a great janitor.

Fantastic food for any fish, shrimp and fry!

Dero Digitata is a great live supplement food for most aquatic animals; Because of their free-swimming movement style, their size, and their tendency to group together in piles.

They will not foul your water as they are aquatic, and if not eaten, they will become part of the ecosystem, where they will feed on detritus and excess food.

- Guaranteed live on arrival!

The culture will be shipped in a special breathable bag,

this can keep the culture healthy, during shipping, for many weeks.

In rare cases there might be less annelids than ordered,

as some might have perished during transport.

In the case of a complete DOA (dead on arrival),

contact me directly and add a few high-quality pictures of the still sealed bag.

The contents must be clearly distinguishable.

If the DOA is recognised, we will send a replacement culture as soon as possible.

By ordering, you accept all the above.

Culturing guide and setup:

Container:

Everything from a jar to a large aquarium.

 Tap water:

If it is heavily chlorinated,

you should let it sit in an open container

for 24 hours to de-gas, before pouring it in.

 Technics:

Airline/air stone for circulation,

 not required in most cases,

but recommended for optimal conditions.

 Food:

You can basically feed them what ever you want,

 as they are omnivors,

but I would recommend whole grain (wheat, oats or barley),

blanched/boiled vegetable or pasta scraps.

 Temperature:

They can reproduce at any temperature above 0C / 32F,

but they thrive at room temperature 20-22C / 68-72F

 Reproduction:

Microfex are very easy to culture.

They mostly reproduce asexually.

The reproduction rate is highly dependant

on temperature and food availability.

It is relatively easy to get a population doubling, or even,

tripling every week or two even without optimal conditions.

 Size:

10-30 mm long, thin as hair.

 Behaviour:

They will gather up in colonies and try to gather food around them.

They will borrow into food sources and leave their tail with gills stick out.

They can swim in a helix motion (similar to eels),

which triggers the hunting instinct in predators.

This makes them fantastic as feed for fish fry.
