GUNC (Gem Uncirculated)

General: Note well centred with intact corners and edges. Must not have been restored or pressed.

Firmness: Firm, almost perfect, the paper is fresh and bright.

Folds: None.

Colours: Bright colours, Note is bright and attractive to the eye.

CUNC (Choice Uncirculated)

General: The note can be offset with near intact corners and edges. Must not have been restored or pressed.

Firmness: Firm, almost perfect.

Folds: Can show a minor defect (1 demerit point).

Colours: Bright colours and note is attractive to the eye. Less bright colours on older banknotes are acceptable.:

UNC (Uncirculated)

General: The note can be offset with near intact corners and edges. Must not have been restored or pressed.

Firmness: Firm, almost perfect.

Folds: Can show 3 minor defects (3 demerit points). The marks left by binding machines or marks left by ATMs are acceptable.

Colours: Bright colours and note is attractive to the eye. Less bright colours on older banknotes are acceptable.

AU (About Uncirculated)

General: Without alteration.

Firmness: Firm.

Folds: A major ripple (no fold) or slight counting marks.

Colours: Vivid colours and details present.

EF (Extremely Fine)

General: Without alteration.

Firmness: Fibres broken by a honest fold in the centre, but intact elsewhere.

Folds: A major fold in the centre. Can also show up two or three counting marks.

Colours: Bright colours and details present.

VF (Very Fine)

General: Signs of wear on corners and edges, but still a clean banknote.

Firmness: Fibres slightly worn, maintaining a definite firmness.

Folds: Several folding marks and major and minor counting marks.

Colours: Less intense colours and signs of wear on the details.

F (Fine)

General: Signs of wear on corners and edges, but still a clean banknote.

Firmness: Well used with little firmness.

Folds: Several folding marks and major and minor counting marks.

Colours: Less intense colors and signs of wear on the details.

VG (Very Good)

General: Major signs of circulation, dirt, tears and perforations or a major stamp mark may be present.

Firmness: Little or no firmness.

Folds: Folds and major counting marks.

Colours: Pale colours and details often altered and deleted.

G (Good)

General: Major signs of circulation, dirt, tears and perforations or major stamp marks may be present.

Firmness: No firmness at all.

Folds: Folds and major counting marks.

Colours: Altered colours and details deleted. Sometimes blackened banknote.
