Extremely rare original map/poster: Please read carefully, see photos and if you have ANY questions, please let me know.

Color pictorial map published in Colombo by the Government Tourist Bureau in July 1951. Printed by the Survey Department as a promotional item in the early period of independence for Ceylon, now Sri Lanka.

Approx. 39 x 54 cm (15 x 21.25 inches.) Map is in bright primary colors with lively illustrations of the island's principal attractions. Includes historic sites, ruins, forts, national reserves, cultural traditions, beaches, fishing, surfing, and other recreations, and more. Artist name "Saradias" in the lower left corner. The reverse side contains text briefly describing Sri Lanka history, legends, and statistics.

Very Good (my interpretation-this has not been graded) vintage condition. This has been stored in a box with dozens of other old maps for many many decades.

Has old fold lines and a few fold lines that are in addition to where the original lines are. The photos show how I found it folded. I only unfolded it to take photos.  Some creasing and tiny edge tears in the white margins, not affecting the image.

Three of the corners have been creased.

The center crease shows very small wear tears/holes that you can see when holding it up to the light. See photos.

I do not see any stains or markings other than some faint yellow that could be part of the original manufacturing. Not sure, but you can see it in the photo of the map folded, in between the blue margin and  the words "of " (Above the f )  and "Ceylon" (Above the n ).

This is an original and not a reproduction.

A scarce item. No others currently located for sale that I can locate. Will ship insured, and per your instruction, either as it has been folded for decades or I will roll it to be placed in a tube and outer box.
