Jurgen Gorg captivates us with his hand-colored etchings, lithographs and original paintings. The artist combines the mastery of a classic form found in the Italian Renaissance with his own modern interpretation. Born in 1951 in Dernbach, Germany, Jurgen Gorg has established himself as a master artist. He studied visual arts in Koblenz, Germany and at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.

Beautiful figurative forms are the predominant image painted and etched by Gorg. His artistic universe consists of lovers, dancers, musicians, and masked characters. The loosely rendered figures suggest they are timeless, eternal and in a dream state. He focuses on the body language and kinetic movement, by leaving the faces vague, with eyes almost always closed. The quality is somewhat indefinite and yet perfect form creates a romantic aura. An elusive quality is cultivated by Gorg who feels that "Something should always remain open."

Gorg’s work is mysterious enough to be fully understood only in the viewer’s imagination and is caught in the romantic movement of the artwork. The melodic flow reminds us of smooth jazz. Space is explored, filled and accented - all executed with a lyrical, subtle, and delicate fluidity, as his mind flows, his hand flows. Like a fine musician, Gorg avoids strong color and stark contrast in his work because he believes this breaks the flow of his lyrical fluid lines.

Currently Gorg has been working on primarily original works and his limited edition hand colored etchings and lithographs have become very rare and hard to find. Art Leaders Gallery has a small collection of these works available for sale.
