Moving mountains is a documenary on the Iron Ore Railways in the Pilbara region in the  North Western  Australia which have adopted the big time operating practices of the North American Railroads to meet their heavy haulage objectives .Today the trains that  carry the iron hundreds of kilometers from the inland mines the coastare among the world's longest and heaviest

You will see how the iron ore is mined from the ground and transported by rail, to the coast where it is blended and loaded onto the ships.

This documentary is also the story of the American Locomotive Compan designs that have given remarkable servive in the Pilbara, an exteremly hasrh enviroment for the last 30 years

Filmed in 1994 ,as the final chapter of Alco operation in the region was about to close

*  A visit the the Pilbara Railway Museum near Dampier where as well as a large operational collection of American Diesel locomotives the Famous British steam locomotive "Pendennis Castle" is based

* The last 636's in servive on all three iro ore roads in the region and superb footage of unrebuilt Hamersley 636's leading trains through the magnificent Pilbara landscapes
