1976 Ford 8-Track Tape D6AA-19A059-AB. Tested, Plays
As pictured.
In a brief test, it pulled smoothly and sounded good.
Pulls
smoothly and plays, but the pad replacement is recommended for critical
audiophile listening/ Tapes in this class make fine “Collectables”, and will
probably sound fine on your Sears Silvertone portable, but probably not on your
Pioneer H-R100….
Pulls
smoothly and sounded fine on my trusty Realistic TR-169 test deck, but the pads
are soft/spongy and replacement is recommended for critical audiophile
listening. Be aware that sub-par pads could result in degraded sound quality on
a higher-end machine. This is an easy fix—but not for MY arthritic fingers!
This deficiency has been priced in.

NOTES-
U.S.
CUSTOMERS: A package of FIVE tapes weighs under a pound, so an order of up to
five can ship via USPS Media Mail for the same price as ONE! Thus, purchasing
multiples saves you significantly over ordering one at a time. Put everything
in your cart, then order. Nonetheless, due to the way eBay calculates combined
orders, you will likely be overcharged for shipping at checkout. But with
multi-tape orders, I subtract the actual cost of the label from the total you
were charged for shipping—then promptly refund the difference. If a domestic
the order is for over $40 (not including sales tax), I’ll refund ALL the
shipping. Fair enough?
NON-U.S.
CUSTOMERS: With most International orders, “one pound and under” packages can
be sent quite reasonably. Five 8-track tapes weigh just under a pound, so five
can be sent for the same price as ONE. However, given the way eBay calculates
the weight of combined orders, you will likely be overcharged for shipping at
check-out. But with each multi-tape order, I subtract the actual cost of the
label from the total you paid for shipping—then promptly refund the difference.
Often I’ll get an inquiry as to the cost of shipping 30 or 40 tapes, but this
never works out—since International rates rise exponentially with the weight
and size of the package.
PLEASE READ
AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE ORDERING:
All 8-track tapes
are sold strictly as collector’s/ display items with NO guarantee concerning
their operating condition -- unless picked up in person. 8-track tapes were
never intended to travel through the mail and rough handling can, on rare
occasions, result in the tape un-spooling-- something over which I have no
control. Unspooling is the reason a tape might go “Whump… Whump… Whump” rather
than tracking smoothly. The observation
that a given tape tested fine on my Realistic TR-169 is NOT a guarantee that
your machine will yield similar performance. This is a used, UNRESTORED tape,
so performance deficiencies concerning the pads or splice are possible. I
neither accept returns, nor give adjustments or refunds related to performance
matters. Again, they are sold as collectors or display items.
In the event
of a problem I’ll be happy to provide contact information for my 8-track guy
who, for about $3, will rebuild it with new pads, splice, and sensing foil.
