In the USSR, until about the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, a 0.5-liter bottle was widely used, and for many decades a 1-liter bottle was also used. The parameters of such bottles were determined by GOST 15844-80 "Glass containers for milk and dairy products". Unlike ordinary bottles, the milk bottle had a wide neck and was corked not with a cork or cap, but with foil.
