This is a stunningly beautiful, gleaming, and very rare Normandy Luxe Competition high-flange front hub, drilled with 36 spoke holes. This is the "Gold Label" version of this hub, which was made by Maillard under the Normandy brand in the late 1960s and early 1970s and was the company's top of the line hub, mounted on legendary bikes including the Peugeot PX-10 (ridden by Eddy Merckx in the late 1960s). Maillard later came out with the far more common "Red Label" Luxe hubs, which were no longer its top level component (displaced by the Maillard 700). It comes with a Maillard ("MM Atom") quick release skewer that also looks to be in near perfect condition. I'm tempted to say this is NOS but I suspect it has been laced once before; regardless it looks brand news and the bearings roll so smoothly it feels brand new. It weighs just 277 grams and is amazingly shiny!
