Textile Cone shells, sometimes known as “Cloth of Gold Cones” have a pretty pattern of irregular triangular shaped white spaces dotted on their surface.

Cone shells are a very successful, predatory sea marine gastropod that feed on worms, molluscs and fish.

They have a highly developed system by which they are able to inject poisonous barbs into their prey prior to feeding. They have been known to sting humans, so should be handled carefully in the wild or preferably left to their own devises.

Textile Cone shells (conus textile) belong to a large family named Conidae and number over 600 species, they are possibly the most popular collector group after cowrie shells.

A common species among the waters of the Indo Pacific.
