It's Already in the Wood explores the neo-African sculptures of Raymond Charles Taylor (1935-1998), a self taught artist who was born in Wales of a West Indian father and an Irish mother. His intriguing artwork, produced during a long period of disability, is the result of cultural blending and profound personal experience. Ray Taylor sculpted as an observer of life, especially his own. His art was never intended to be shown to the general public yet it addresses themes - such as relationships, shame, guilt, ageing, disability, despair, horror and death - that are part of our common humanity.
