VINTAGE NEWSPAPER EDITORIAL CARTOON – NY TRIBUNE, 1915 - by W. K. Starrett

William Kemp Starrett (1889-1952) was a prolific American cartoonist. Early on he signed his work “W. K. Starrett” and later he changed it to Kemp Starrett. He drew for the NY Tribune from 1915 to 1917. This is a very early editorial cartoon dated September 18, 1915. Although the United States had not yet entered World War One (that happened in 1917), the common coin for many editorial cartoonists was to interpret the events “over there” as well as the politics of the US at home regarding the war. Size 7 x 8 ½ inches as shown in the first image (cropped). Lightly age toned newspaper, minor tears to edge, repaired on the backside with acid free tape; additional tape used on some edges to prevent further tearing. Some shallow chipping to top edge (view second image). Comes in a clear sleeve for protection. Other vintage (not modern reproduction) Starrett editorial cartoons available. Save on shipping when combining two or more. Questions welcome.
