This is a very scarce C1820-30s pewter tobacco jar/box complete with its original cover and its tobacco presser. It is signed by James Dixon and numbered 472. James Dixon worked from c1805 to 1845.
The condition -no major flaws and excellent for its age and use. Please see photos.
It is round/cylindrical and 4" in diameter; 4 3/4" tall including lid. The round presser is 3 1/2' in diameter and has a pewter knob. It weighs about 1 lbs.
