Antique OLD Yellow Ware Mixing Bowl 1800’s Primitive Pottery Stoneware USA.

Fantastic antique yellow ware mixing bowl. This one is quite old. I’m guessing earlier 19th century. It could even be very late 18th century for all I know. It has a fantastic crackle glaze. It shows spur marks on the inside and outside of the bowl. I’ve personally never seen spur marks on both sides of a piece. Spurs were used to support the piece while being fired in the kiln. Big factory produced pieces often didn’t have spur marks showing. There are a couple spots on bottom rim area that are missing glaze. In the photos of the bottom one of the white spots missing glaze may look like a chip but it’s not. The bowl did see plenty of use but overall it’s in quite good condition. There is one crack in the bottom that is visible inside and out. It’s still structurally sound though and will hold for another couple hundred years. I’ve done absolutely nothing to clean the bowl up. Not so much as a paper towel for dust. I think it will clean up well. The crack in the inside bottom should lighten up a great deal and become much less visible after a good cleaning. You can even pour some peroxide in the bowl to lighten it up to near invisible. This could alter the crackle glaze a bit in this area so it’s an option you’ll want to weigh if you the crack bothers you. I think it adds to the charm and patina of this old bowl and it doesn’t bother me at all. There are some other little irregularities in the bowl that occurred in production. These lend to it being an older, smaller production piece. For the primitives fan this is a great piece for display. The vertical stripes on the side are really sharp looking. The bowl is approximately 9.25” in diameter and just about 4.75” high. You could still use it if you wished. It’s fresh from an old Lexington, MA area country estate. Ships ASAP! Thanks

If you are a primitives expert and happen to know more about the bowl than I do please feel free to fill me in.
