The Softron Movie Recorder 3 for Mac is an electronic download and includes a single license, meaning it can be used to capture one video stream. Movie Recorder 3 is a video ingest application for Mac that supports up to 8 streams of 1080p HD video on a single computer. In most configurations, the software works in conjunction with a third-party capture card and has been tested to work with cards from AJA, Blackmagic-Design and Deltacast. It can be used for on the spot direct to edit capture or you can schedule records and 24/7 operation is even possible.

You can choose from a number of poplar codecs, including H.264, DNxHD and ProRes for editing in most NLEs' including Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Avid. It can also be configured for live streaming or direct upload to a remote FTP server; and a cloud-based backup can even be made while streaming.

Use Thunderbolt and PCIe Capture Cards
Most PCIe, Thunderbolt and ExpressCard/34 capture cards from AJA, Blackmagic Design and Deltacast are supported by Movie Recorder 3. It is possible to use multiple cards in aggregate for multi-stream ingest.

Record Multiple Streams on One Mac
With Movie Recorder you can record up to 8 streams of HD video on a single Mac. Thanks to Thunderbolt and PCIe expansion chassis, the only limitations are the CPU performance and of course storage space. For capturing more than 8 streams, it is even possible to link several computers but ingest everything onto a single workstation.

Edit While Ingesting
When used with Premiere Pro or Apple Final Cut Pro it is possible to start editing the footage while it is still ingesting. Ingest options offered include recording to multiple destinations simultaneously for redundancy and recording the same source in multiple codecs. Plus when capturing via a supported I/O device from AJA, Blackmagic Design or Deltacast Movie Recorder can capture in advanced intermediate codecs such DNxHD and ProRes.

Schedule Recordings or Crash Record
The simplest way of recording to disc is called "crash recording". No need to be a specialist to get it to work. Simply push the record button in the user interface and your recording will start right away. In addition, making unattended scheduled recordings is also possible by specifying the start and stop date and time.

Record to Multiple Destinations, Using Multiple Codecs
With Movie Recorder 3, you can create as many preset destinations as you want to and use them simultaneously or not. You can create QuickTime, MXF or HLS type of destinations. Once created, you just need to enable or disable them for each source.

Customizable Presets
Movie Recorder features a number of audio and video presets to help you get started as quickly as possible. In most cases the Recommended Presets should be appropriate, however Custom Presets can be created if the existing presets don't meet your needs.

Built-In Streaming Support
With Movie Recorder 3 it is possible to create an HTTP Live Streaming destination, as well as send HLS streams to multiple destinations. Simultaneously you can record onto local storage, which can be any mounted volume on your Mac, whether an SMB or an AFP volume. You can also automatically upload to an FTP server or to your Amazon S3 account. Plus you can use multiple destinations so that you'll have an automatic backup copy of your live streams.

Looped Recording
In looped recording, Movie Recorder keeps recording over the same file again-and-again, automatically going back to the beginning once it reaches the end. This can be useful for "time-shifting" playout, sports replay, or surveillance applications.
