This is a complete unclassified NWA meteorite. Its been cut in two to make a photographic thin section. This thin section can be used to classify and officially name this meteorite if you found somebody to do it or had the skills and equipment to do it yourself (I can put you in touch with a lab that would do it for a 20 gram sample, the thin section itself, and about 300 Euros if you are interested). But makes for a nice study item. Before cut meteorite weighed 170.2 grams. The remaining section weighs 147 Grams. I dont know what happened to the offcut. It may have been misplaced or all used up.  This was made 20 years ago so I am a bit short on records and memories on some stuff.

A thin section is a thin slice of a rock that is glued to a glass microscope slide. There are standard thicknesses but the thickness most commonly used for meteorites is 30 microns in thickness (Like this one)  - thin enough that you can see through it. It often brings out nice chondrules and/or other features of the meteorite.

This is a standard size microscope slide which is roughly 4.5 x 2.5cm.

Combining lots to save on postage would be fine.
