Description: Popular Electronics magazine was created in 1954 by Ziff-Davis for an audience of electronics enthusiasts and experimenters. It soon became "The World's Best Selling Electronic Magazine". Circulation was 240,000 by 1957 and exceeded 400,000 by 1963. Competitor World of Electronics was merged with Popular Electronics in 1972.
Popular Electronics became Computers and Electronics in November 1982; and then ceased publication in April 1985.
The name returned in February 1989 to Gernsback Publications, who acquired the name and gave it to their magazine "Hands-On Electronics". Popular Electronics ceased publication in December 1999, returning as Poptronics in January 2000 after merging with Electronics Now. The last release was in January 2003.
