SPECTACULAR Museum Quality Piece!! Antique Sterling Silver Early 19th Century Sweetmeat Cherub Plate!

This plate is nothing less that stunning. In the 50 years I’ve been in the antique business I have never laid my hands on such an interesting and glorious piece from this era. I knew the moment I held it that it was something special. I truly believe it to be museum quality. The cherubs in the middle are frolicking around a cornucopia of fruits and nuts while the cherubs on the outer rim are holding musical instruments. This piece is fabulous.

Maker’s mark: The highly ornate design and depth of repousse might be masking a maker’s mark. Do look at the wings of the cherubs in center. Notice an “S” or interlocking C? Perhaps a maker’s mark?

Material: Tests as sterling silver.

Weight: 309.8 grams.

Age: Early 1800s.

Size: 9-1/4” diameter.

This purchase will be an opportunity! Don’t miss it!
