Brand new Brew City Audio replacement for the MIDH65103 MRH65A midranges for the XLS-12, XLS-15, and XLS-215. These are four ohm, just like your blown one. These are also much beefier units. Larger magnet, and larger vented voice coil, these will not blow like your originals. Timbre on these is identical to the original, so your speakers will sound like they are supposed to. The only difference sound wise, is that due to the larger coil and larger magnet, these will be slightly louder than your originals. These bolt right in using the same screws, however due to the larger magnets, you may need to remove a layer of insulation inside the midrange baffle, which is easy to do with just a scissors.
One issue (besides blown mids and tweeters) the XLS speakers have, is that the internal baffle (box) the midrange goes in, can let loose. Poor glue job from the factory apparently. When this baffle comes loose (from the front face of the speaker), the air pressure waves inside the cabinet from the back of the woofers, start pounding the rear of the midrange, They can't take that, and is one of the reasons these blow. So, when you get the midrange out, check to make sure the baffle box is still well glued, and now would be a great time to maybe add some glue or adhesive to that joint to prevent problems down the line.
The other reason the XLS series blows a lot of mids and tweeters, is that the crossover frequencies built into the design, are pretty low for both. That isn't easy to change, as that would involve redesigning and rebuilding the crossover network. But your solution is here, a much beefier unit that will handle the pounding I know your going to give it.
