Antique Chinese Bronze Dragon Candlestick Figured Candle Holder AMAZING Japanese.

The metal work on this piece is incredible! The figural dragon coiled around the base looks like it could leap right off at you. Stylistically it looks like a blend of a European candlestick with the Chinese decoration on it. The previous owners family seemingly spent time in Asia in the late 19th century and/or early 20th century. I would guess this candlestick was made 1860-1920 or so. There is a piece of old tape on the base that says “China”. In my research I found many pieces with similar metalwork that would backup this origin. Originally it looked Japanese to my eye but indeed pieces with similar figural dragons were made in China. There is an old repair to the body of the vase towards the bottom. The claw that grips the base of the vase is separated from the dragons leg. It can be pushed back into place and is a clean break. It could easily be glued or otherwise adhered back together. Someone could do a quick spot weld in minutes. The bottom “cap” that would seal the underside of the vase is detached but present. These were added to pieces like this after completion and commonly become detached over time. In no way does it impact the viewing if this piece. Otherwise it’s in good antique condition. It stands roughly 10” tall. The patina on the bronze is lovely. I scrolled through thousands of images of Chinese and Japanese bronze candlesticks and did not find one exactly like it. It’s a nice thing fresh to market for likely the first time since it was brought stateside around or over one hundred years ago. Ships ASAP! Thanks
