The author’s poetic prose and 8 impressionistic watercolor paintings tell her family’s story of being Japanese-Canadian during World War II,  and of surviving their shameful treatment by the Canadian government.  It is a rarely found First Edition and is in excellent condition even being over 50 years old. The front and back boards are covered in clean, unblemished oatmeal-colored cloth, with black lettering on the front cover and spine. The binding is tight and there are no missing, loose, dirty, or torn pages. There are hardly any signs of wear but there is an inscription inside the front cover, to the owner from his parents.  The dust jacket,  which features one of the author’s watercolors, is also in excellent condition with very minor edge- and shelf-wear, a few speckles on the side edges, one tear at the top of the spine, and the price has been blacked out. This book measures 24 cm. x 20 cm. (9-1/2 in. x 7-3/4 in.). It is not paginated but there are 69 pages following the introductory and title pages, and including the illustration pages. It comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. I have tried to clearly and
accurately describe the condition and show all blemishes in my photos, which are considered to be part of the description.
