F3000 DVD 1990

Formula 3000 International Championship

The 1990 F3000 season featured a line-up of young drivers who would go on to make names for themselves in motor racing: Damon Hill, Eddie Irvine, Heinz-Harald Frenzen and Allan McNish among them.

With 12 races on the calendar the scene was set for a thrilling season, but it turned out to be one of extremes. At the first race of the year an accident fatally injured a spectator and the final round of the year - at Dijon-Prenois -  was cancelled due to the Gulf Crisis.

Elsewhere in the season the racing was as intense and dramatic as would be expected of the F3000 Championship and there were many closely fought battles between the talented young drivers.

Erik Comas, driving a Lola Mugen Honda for the DAMS team proved to be the class of the field, only finishing off the podium once (when he managed to finish).

Reliability and consistency were in short supply throughout the field, but there was certainly no lack of competitiveness and drive.
