"Drops From Flora's Cup or the Poetry of Flowers"

Written by Miss Mary Griffin
Publisher: Charles H. Peirce, Boston, Massachusetts

The Poetry of Flowers
with a
Floral Vocabulary

by Miss Mary M Griffin

This lovely little book is a substantial 160 pages in length yet is measures just 3 x 4 3/4 inches. Published in Boston in 1845 and 1848 it is not in perfect condition, yet the gilt letters and flowers on the covers and the gilding on the end pages are bright and clear. A polychrome title page is carefully separated by a layer of tissue.

The book is fragile, yet so lovely; it is poignant to think that Emily Dickinson was 15 when this book was published and might have seen an edition of this book.

The poems inside include offerings by Wordsworth, Milton and Shakespeare among other lesser poets.

Note: this book is 175 years old, so it is very fragile.

This antiquarian book will ship from my non-smoking home in the condition photographed and described.
