FINE PHOTO GALLERIES is pleased to offer an authentic vintage (NOT a modern reprint) 1940's glossy Photo Engraving by the legendary photographer Ansel Adams. Throughout his storied career Ansel Adams traveled and photographed extensively in America's National Parks which provided the sites and subjects for some of his most celebrated photographs. From the Great Smokey Mountains of the East to the rugged landscapes of the West, Adams produced a body of work that helped establish him as one of the most important figures in the the history of photography.  Outstanding print quality and extraordinary detail make this vintage "Kromekote" print look very close to Adam's original glossy silver gelatin prints - certainly the closest we've ever seen in a photo-mechanical print. Only under magnification does the distinctive and high quality photo-mechanical process become evident. The plate is printed on high gloss Kromekote paper - an expensive and exclusive print surface in 1949 and typically reserved for projects calling for the very highest in print quality and detail. This special paper combined with a high quality printing technique resulted in prints which are very close in look and feel to glossy silver gelatin photographs.

High quality Kromekote prints are difficult to scan accurately - scanners have trouble with the ultra fine screen pattern and glossy surface, therefor diagonal or horizontal "band lines" will appear occasionally within the scans - these digital "noise lines" are not in the actual print itself.

This vintage photo engraving is guaranteed to be authentic and comes with a hand signed CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY (COA) with unique individual registered serial number from the Fine Photo Galleries Vintage Archive & Database. The watermark word "Finephoto" does not appear on the actual print.
