Connection with the computer and requirements for the computer.

  • The MACH3 interface board is connected to the computer through the USB port and the LPT port. The length of the USB cable and the 25-bit LPT cable cannot exceed 1.5 meters.
  • At present, many computer hosts do not have LPT port output. If your computer does not have an LPT output, you will need to use a PCI-to-port card.
  • Note that the common USB-to-parallel port adapter cannot be used for this board.

Performance characteristics

  1. The output and input signal numbers are processed by special high-speed chip, the signal is corrected, amplified, and unnecessary interference signals are removed, so that the whole machine runs more stably.
  2. The LPT port power supply of the computer is isolated from the power supply of other parts, so that the computer and the machine tool can be effectively isolated. This further ensures safety and stability. Make computer and machining data safer.
  3. There are 5 input signals communicating with the host computer, all of which are isolated by optical diaphragm. P11 and P12 ports are high-speed diaphragm isolation, which can be used to connect the spindle code disc, or the hand wheel A, B are equally demanding signals.
  4. Reserved 12V-OUT, 5V-OUT power output interface, can be used to connect the required power supply such as Hall sensor switch and proximity switch. There are 5 input ports, which can be set to: 5 functions, such as limit, origin, tool setting, start, emergency stop, spindle speed input, MPG input.

Port P2 is used for the spindle, port P3 is used for the coolant, and port P4 is self-definable.

It should be noted that the PWM output and the 0-10V output can only be selected one by one. Cannot be used simultaneously.
  8. The interface board can be connected to the stepper driver or the servo driver (the servo driver must support the digital signal). The output is at 5V level.

Connection with driver:

First, to ensure that your drive and stepper motor are connected correctly;

Second, the power supply power should be large enough. In addition to the external power supply of the drive, our MACH3 control card also needs external power supply (15-32VDC). If the drive is 24V, the control card can share a power supply with the drive, as long as the current has 1A power (generally More than 24W) can be assigned to the control card.

The following line is based on the X axis:

PUL- connection P4

DIR-connected to P5

PUL+ and DIR+ are connected together to receive 5V "common terminal"

EN+ and EN- are not wired

Note:

PUL refers to the pulse signal, and DIR refers to the direction signal EN refers to the enable signal.

The other 3 axes are also wired. The default Y axis is P6 P7, the Z axis is P8 P9, and the 4 axis is P16 P17.

The output signal has 12 ports. When connected to the 4 axis, the default settings are as follows:

P1 spindle PWM or 0-10V inverter speed regulation

P2 spindle relay on and off control

P3 water spray relay on and off control

P4 X-axis pulse

P5 X axis direction

P6 Y-axis pulse

Wiring the MACH3 interface board and peripherals.

Wiring the power input.

This interface board must be connected to the power supply to work.

The power supply requirement is DC15-32VDC, and the current should be greater than 1A. Recommended to use industrial opening

Turn off the power. POWER IN is connected to the switching power supply V+, GND is connected to the switching power supply V-.

For the driver with 6 pulse ports of double pulse and bidirectional, the common anode connection is to connect the PUL+ and DIR+ of the driver together to the 5V port of the MACH3 interface board, and the PUL- and DIR- are respectively connected as pulses and directions. The regular output port of the MACH3 interface board, then in MACH3 software.

The device is set to PUL-, and the two ports of DIR- are pulse and direction ports.For the driver with only pulse, direction, enable, and common four signal ports, the common male connection is to connect the common end of the driver to the common terminal C5V, pulse to the regular output port of the MACH3 interface board, and then in the MACH3 software. Set to PUL-, the two ports of DIR- can be pulse and direction ports.

Wiring to the servo motor drive.

The wiring of the MACH3 and servo motor drivers is the same as that of the stepper motor driver.

The board removes the spindle and can output analog control. Other axis motors can only output digital control system. So before wiring with the servo motor driver, make sure that your servo drive is supported.

Controlled by digital pulse signals. If only analog-controlled servo drives are not available.

Wiring to the limit switch, tool setting instrument,and the home switch.

These switches are controlled by any of the five inputs of the MACH3 interface board.

Can be done with a variety of commonly used mechanical switches, or with capacitive proximity switches, hall switches, or photoelectric switch to do. These switches are triggered when low level.

It is best to use shielded wires for all switch wiring. When wiring, it must be separated from various motor wires, large current and high voltage wires,especially the input and output lines of the inverter, and the motor lines of each axis and power cables.

GND or any other signal line on the MACH3 board cannot be connected to the metal body of the machine.Otherwise, it is easy to cause false triggering of the switch.

Wiring with the inverter.

If the inverter is connected to MACH3, the inverter must support 0-10V speed regulation or support PWM speed regulation. Be sure to confirm in advance if your drive meets the requirements. The inverter and the MACH3 board can be connected by two wires.

1) If it is 0-10V speed regulation, connect GND and 0-10V to the inverter.

2) If it is PWM speed regulation, connect GND and P1 to the inverter.

Wiring of the relay output.

This interface board has 3 relay controls, P2 port for the main shaft and P3 port for the coolant. P4 can define its own functions.

When the relay function is needed, the on-board controls P2, P3, P4 follow all the jump pins of the electric appliance should be plugged in, and the three output ports cannot be used for the output port of the other shafts of the motor.

default by delivery is P4 relay does not work, that is, jump caps for P2 and P3;The two feet are plugged in, and the P4 is only inserted into one side.

P3 port switch coolant power supply relay, support MACH3, G code programming (parallel port P3 port, G code M8 open, M9 off), there is a switch indicator on the relay. It is convenient to judge the continuity of power supply.

The P2 port spindle-powered relay supports MACH3, G code programming (parallel port P2 port, G code M3 open, M5 off), and there is a switch indicator on the relay. Convenient to judge the continuity of power supply

The P4 port controlled relay on the MACH3 interface board can also be controlled by M code number control programming.
