This small, elongated oval container is a rarely seen piece from the “Variations”series.  Originally designed as a cigarette holder, it can be used as a miniature vase, or for toothpicks or any other small items.  The glossy white porcelain has a white-on-white ribbed design that still looks contemporary nearly 70 years later. The “walls” are translucent when held up to the light, as in photo 6. Measurements are: 6.3 cm.(2 ½ in.) high, 8.3 cm. (3 ¼ in.) wide, and 4.6 cm. (1 ¾ in.) deep.  Designed by Tapio Wirkkala, the Rosenthal hallmarks stamped underneath identify this container as being made in the Kronach factory in 1958. The design number 873 is imprinted at the bottom. There are 2 available, and each is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, stains, or sign of age.  Please look at all photos as they are part of the description.  Smoke-free pet-free home.  Price is for one only.
