1981 Proof Silver Dollar

100th anniversary of the start of Canada's transcontinental railroad




This listing is for the 1981 Proof Finish (50%) Silver Dollar produced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1981 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of Canada's transcontinental railroad. The coin has the date on the reverse. In 1986 a the normal Arnold Machin obverse was re-instated on the silver dollar. This silver dollar was minted in 50% silver. It is 36.07 mm in diameter and weighs 23.3 grams.  It will come to you in a 2 x 2 cardboard holder for protection and then you can display it however you wish. ***If you wish the original capsule AND/OR the original display case (free) then please let me know.  There will be a higher shipping cost for including the display case as canada post charges more for this shipment type. 

This dollar is in superb shape and is a great commemorative to add to your collection.

From 2000 onward the mint started adding more varieties of the commemorative dollars as well as special edition dollars, gold plated ones, enamel ones, etc.
