Koi fish in Oriental culture are a symbol of wealth and prosperity and are a popular choice for water features in and around the home. Here we see the relatively bright orange and white koi contrasting with the darker swirling impressionistic representations of water. The effect of this contrast of color as well as the swirls creates an illusion of movement in the tapestry.
