Published by THE FUJIYA HOTEL, Miyanoshita, Hakone, Japan, is a beautiful and incredible collection of twelve Japanese Historical and Cultural Art color page prints, with a detailed cultural Description on the reverse side.

Notably, this Calendar example is in the rare form of NOT being spiral-bound.  Were the Calendar page cards to be considered individually, each could be a stand-alone piece suitable for single framing, these artwork pages look that good.

It is titled Calendar of the Floral and Festival Land of Japan (With Descriptions).  The renown and majestic Fujiya Hotel was the very first Resort Hotel in Japan established in 1878. Through the years they produced many interesting guides and advertising for the enlightenment and pleasure of their guests.  Each month of the Calendar has exquisite and beautiful artwork with a narrative on the back side describing the picture. The pages are approximately 8" by 8 3/4 " in size. They are gilt edged and have gilt enhancements within the picture.  At some location in each picture, the name of the Fujiya Hotel is tastefully worked into the scene, see if you can find them.  The skillful printing and inks are rich, such that the front side image lightly caresses' itself upon the reverse side of the thick page card . . . quality to be appreciated and admired.  These exceptional printings are approximately Eight-Eight Years Old.

Calendar months are titled as follows:
January: The Japanese New Year
February: The Setsubun or Bean-Throwing Ceremony
March: The Hinamatsuri or Doll Festival
April: The Hanamatsuri or Flower Festival
May: The Boys' Festival
June: The Sanno Shrine
July: Tanabata or Star Festival
August: The Kawabiraki or Pyrotechnical Display At Ryogoku
September: Tsukimi or Moon - Viewing
October: The Ebisu - Ko Festival
November: The Shichigosan or 7-5-3 Festival
December: The Year-End in Japan

There is a slip-in paper holder to contain the twelve page cards with the inscription of:
Calendar of the Floral and Festival Land of Japan      Published by Fujita Hotel Miyanoshita, Japan

Also included is the protective envelope of The Fujita Hotel (which is heavily worn - see photos for that condition) with red string to secure the closing flap having two brass rivets and cardboard clasps.

An exceedingly rare Prewar Japan surviving publication from Eight Decades in the past which was skillfully prepared by Fujita Hotel.  Fortunately, the Calendar is in near new and mint condition with all of the art prints presenting vivid detail and rich colors . . . like such was just freshly printed.  Please carefully review the photo images as all is made available "as-is".  (Please note the photos were taken with an iPhone and not a camera, for which would much better convey the pristine quality of the printings.)  This is a significant and elegant publication by the renown The Fujita Hotel, and provides a unique pleasure to hold and appreciate the beautiful artwork and quality of the printing.  Please message Seller with any questions.

Scarce.   It is indeed . . . with now a unique opportunity for your acquisition.   Carpe Diem.
