1999  Millennium Proof Sterling Silver Quarters

May 1999 - The Voyageurs

In 1999 the Royal Canadian Mint produced one proof quarter per month to celebrate the new millennium.  These quarters each have a very attractive themed design on the reverse.  Each is minted in proof finish in sterling (92.5% silver). Each theme was suggested by a Canadian through a contest.  The obverse of each quarter has the crowned effigy of the Queen.  For January the theme is "the voyageurs" and the design shows how the voyageurs discovered Canada's terrain by canoe.  The coin in this listing will be mounted in a 2 x 2 cardboard holder.  It is 5.9 grams and 23.88 mm in diameter.
