Description:

Frankfurt: Carl Jugel's Verlag, First Edition, no date 1870s to 1890s.

Disbound volume 11 inches wide by 8 inches tall approximately, front cover worn with the illustrations and titles worn off completely, the original cloth spine is off and the plates are all detached.

Sold as a collection of 60 plates.

60 steel engraved plates of views of the Rhine between Mayence, Coblence, Cologne and Dusseldorff.

Plates have multi-coloured tissue guards, a few missing, a few torn, with loss, some foxing to the plates – see photos supplied.

Gilt and colour title against a shiny white background, title page torn around the edges with loss.

Approximately 11 inches wide by 8 inches tall.

• Spine – poor condition – defective and detached.
• Joints – poor condition – disbound.
• Corners – good condition – sound.
• Boards – poor condition – rubbed, titles and decoration entirely absent from the front boards, very rubbed to the rear board.
• Page edges – fair condition – thick card with some softening to the edges.

• Hinges – poor condition – disbound.
• Paste downs – fair condition – marks.
• End papers – fair condition – marked.
• Title – poor condition – frayed and worn to the edges with loss.
• Pages – fair to good condition – generally clean with some foxing, tissue guards torn with loss, creased, folded and some missing.
• Binding – poor condition – disbound.
