Extremely rare HUFFY 7-ELEVEN team bike from 1988 custom built like Andy Hampsten's spec for the Giro d'Italia which he won.

This frameset is built by John Slawta and is a Land Shark, just like Andy's and unlike the rest of the team bikes which were Serotta.

Noticeable differences between this frame and the regular team frames - internal rear brake cabling, different lugs, rear dropout adjusters (and most importantly they didn't snap, which is why Andy had them custom made!).

This is a lovingly refurbished bike with all the parts that Andy would have had on his 1988 Giro winning bike that infamously took him over the Gavia in a snowstorm. Where possible parts are NOS (New Old Stock).

In terms of rarity, they are about as rare as you get - there's one on public display, at University Cycles, Boulder, CO which was given to them by Andy, I think he may have another one but that's about it because the rest of the team bikes were Serotta and even Andy rode the other ones for the rest of the season so the Giro winning bike is quite unique.

Buy it now and I'll throw in a team jersey from 1988 (see last photo).

Please note this is a restored tribute bicycle from 1988 - though most parts are 'new' no guarantee can be given for the bike or parts integrity and riding it is done at the buyer's own risk. The tyres in particular should probably be replaced with modern tubulars before riding as the materials are almost certain to have degraded.

For reference, heres a link to the bike University Cycles in Boulder have, given to them by Andy, it isn't however his Giro bike as the paintwork is incorrect and so are some of the components: https://www.cyclingnews.com/features/historic-pro-bike-andy-hampstens-1988-7-eleven-huffy-giro-ditalia/

Collection is of course preferred but understandably this depends on your location. Shipping will be done via insured courier, the bike will be partially dismantled and foam packed.
