Description
Vintage Hunter-Skinner manufactured by Union Cutlery Company in Olean, NY in the 1920th. This knife that looks suspiciously like the famous Marble's Woodcraft but - a lot of manufactures (including Union Cutlery) were "borrowing" other designs left-n-right in the 1920th. Rare pre-depression "marbliezed" celluloid handle with a striking green-red-n-black pattern. Celluloid handles were the "hot new thing" after WW1 but went away during the Great Depression. These colorful handles were pretty, but most fell apart due to the "celluloid rot"; this type is rare this nice. The knife is about 8-1/2" / 21.5 cm overall; the blade is about 4-3/8" / 11.2 cm long; it's razor-sharp still, the tip is intact. Rare "green marble" celluloid handle, German silver half-guard and "mushroom head" large-nut aluminum pommel; all parts are tight with no play.
Leather sheath seems to be a replacement but it fits the knife well. It's great condition; the leather is soft and supple. Rare vintage pre-WW2 classic Union Cutlery Ka-Bar; don't miss your chance to add it to your collection!
