FOR SALE

Refurbished,
Vintage,Alan Richards Racing Bike.

Here on offer is a lovely vintage Alan Richards racing bike.Alan Richards was a very successful rider from the Midlands, holding a number of cycling records. He also built his own frames and helped run the family cycle shop in Birmingham, called Tower Cycles.Like many Cycle shops he sold his own branded bicycles.I've been advised (with thanks) that as previously mentioned,Alan built his own, high end frames and I'd suggest most likely this example was also built by Alan.

The bike here has been built up from a quality frame,(55cm centre to top, seat tube),with full Reynolds 531 tubing and Gipieme front & rear dropouts.
It has been fitted with mainly Campagnolo equipment, including Campagnolo Athena chainset,Mirage brakes and rear derailleur and Campagnolo gear levers and front derailleur and bottom bracket. Both wheel hubs are also Campagnolo and have been laced to Alesa clincher rims, with stainless steel spokes.
Saddle is a Selle Italia Flite,Titanium, the bars are Ambrosio and the stem 3ttt.

The bike has just had a complete strip down and rebuild, all parts checked, serviced or replaced as required. This including cleaning and polishing of frame, new grease in the headset. The bb and wheel hubs were running very smoothly,so left.
Seat post and handlebar stem were cleaned and greased, new Schwalbe Lugano tyres fitted, new chain, new grey outer brake cable sleeving and new bar tape.
As a result of this work the bike now looks and rides very nicely indeed. The ride is rattle free, the gears and brakes work as they should, the wheels are straight, free of play and spin very smoothly.
There are some age related marks to the frame as you'd expect but nothing substantial and nothing that spoils the overall appearance of the bike,it does present very nicely.

Overall a really lovely, quality steel racing bike, now ready for new adventures and travels!

Happy to post by courier at price quoted, also happy for anyone to come take a look,in the Marlborough area of Wiltshire. If postage is required, bike will be packaged in a proper bike box.

Any questions,do feel free to ask, either by email.

Many thanks for looking.
