Hello, up for sale from a private collection of antiques is this rare late 19th.c. French pocket jeweler /diamond trader balance scales for weighing gold, diamonds and precious stones. Made by Bertin Roche, Paris, 30 Rue Drouot. The set comes in a mahogany wood box to hold the pans, scales and the pointer divided from each other and so held in place and safe during travel. The set has four carat weights and six other weights all contained in a lidded compartment to the box. A pair of tweezers fit into the underside of the lid.

The box is well made with a brass button lock to the front. The hinges are in excellent working order as is the opening/closing button latch function. The tweezers have some rust.
