Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) was one of Japan's most prolific printmakers and a prominent designer of the shin-hanga movement, depicting traditional subjects with a style influenced by western art. This woodblock print, "Nissaka on Tokaido" or Nissaka in Rain, is a vintage edition published by Watanabe from original blocks postwar; a black 6mm publisher's seal in the bottom right corner suggests a 1948-1956 printing. The image itself measures approximately 14 inches wide and 9-5/8 inches tall; with margins, the print measures 15-1/2 inches wide and 10-3/8 inches tall. This print is in excellent condition with great color and no holes or tears, some minor yellowing appropriate to age and old tape remains in the very corners on the top. The print is currently in a matted frame, 21 inches wide by 15-1/2 inches tall. This is an older framing with painted mat; the tape holding the print in place has released and has been left up to the new owner to replace if desired or re-frame entirely. Please see pictures for further information on condition.

Attention eBay Buyers:

I do my best to accurately describe items listed for sale. Any chips, cracks, tears, stains or other noticeable damage will be listed in the description. If no damages or defects are listed above, it is because I didn't see any and the item is in very good condition. Please look carefully at the photos, as they are considered to be part of the description!  Many of the items I list are from estate, household, and yard sales and are priced low accordingly, but occasionally a flaw or defect may be overlooked or damage may occur during shipping. Some items may not have been tested to make sure they work properly. I try to note that in the description. Feel free to ask for more information prior to bidding, and I will answer to the best of my ability.  If you are not 100% satisfied, do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to resolve the problem.

Payment:

Payment to confirmed PayPal addresses only, please; no exceptions.  Payment is due within 3 days of the close of the auction.  Payment later than that will interfere with our shipping schedule and may result in your package not being shipped until the next batch. Florida residents, add 7% sales tax or a valid 2023 Florida State Resale certificate.

Shipping:

The shipping cost is shown in the shipping section of the listing.  This is the shipping cost you are asked to pay. All prices are based on ACTUAL USPS rates and do not include a handling charge. Sometimes, depending on your location, Priority Mail is feasible at the amount paid, in which case your item will be shipped that way. If you feel the shipping charge is too high, contact me prior to bidding, and I may be able to make an adjustment. If you would like your item shipped by another method (UPS, FedEx, etc), contact me and I will try to accommodate your request. We are happy to combine items to reduce shipping when it doesn't compromise the safety of the items being shipped. Please note that some heavier items may require additional shipping costs west of the Mississippi River; please contact me for a revised shipping quote.

Handling:

Each item is carefully packaged to ensure safe arrival at its destination. With the cost of boxes, bubble wrap, peanuts, tape, etc., I often spend more on shipping/handling than the buyer is charged.  I usually ship within two business days of the close of auction.  I will notify you if it will run later than that for any reason.
