The Madaba tree is part of a floor discovered in the 959/96 AD vault of St. Elianus, which today is part of the archaeological park known as the Church of the Virgin in Madaba.  The apples symbolize the ten Roman cities (the Decapolis), while the picking of grapes refers to the ancient city of Madaba, famous for its vineyards
